ToobBox.com Myspace App Demo - Create Youtube Playlists for your Myspace Profle

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Our little Myspace App has been out for a while now. We just got it looking decent so I guess it’s time to expose it. This app allows you to create Youtube video playlists and have a small player on your Myspace profile. It holds up to 20 videos and you can title the videos yourself (instead of letting Youtube do it).

Basic Features:

  • Forward
  • Reverse
  • Pause
  • Play Any Video At Any Time
  • Autoplay (Plays automatically when someone comes to your profile)

This short video demonstrates ToobBox.com’s multiple playlists feature. Intro music by J. Shaw (thank you!) and we feature Mr. Song’s band Monodilic (which I always have a hard time spelling). BTW - Camtasia is awesome!

    ToobBox.com Introduces Multiple Playlists

    Friday, September 18th, 2009

Here is some real development news: We finally pushed out the multiple playlist feature. This was a pretty big feat for us. Here are some of the highlights:

    • Share your playlists with friends (my playlist ID is 4 :) )
    • Create  multiple playlists
    • Clear all the videos in a playlist with “clear all”
    • Delete playlists

We also changed the search results panel:

    • Preview videos in a pop out window or in the main player window
    • Removed the checkbox video adding system

Other things that were worked out:

    • Fixed some shuffle errors
    • Did site polishing up (removed “hospital green” from search result panel)

America Let’s Fight Street Sweeping Tickets - Part 1

    Saturday, August 15th, 2009

They do this tricky thing in my neighborhood where they alternate what weeks they do street sweeping.  I think it’s something like the second and fourth Wednesday of every month the street sweeper comes by and “sweeps” the street. I think all it really does is go by and makes super obnoxious noises for a few minutes and then takes off. I don’t think it really cleans the street at all. If your car is parked on my street when the sweeper comes by you get a nice fat $41 ticket.

To increase the “trickiness factor” they only sweep one side of the street on Wednesday and the other side on Thursday. What makes this an incredible pile of bullshit is that I live on a cul-de-sac!  I swear the only reason why they do this is to collect revenue - not to clean the streets. Also, I don’t work a normal schedule and it always changes. Some days I get home super late from work. Like the next day at 2 am. So there is no way in hell I’m going to remember to move my car at 8am, especially when it’s late and my memory of what day it is - is a bit fuzzy.

After getting a fair share of tickets over the past 8 years, I thought of a community action system to prevent this mafia style gouging of the neighborhood:

    Street Sweeping Warning System

    Street Sweeping Warning System

The idea here is to build this simple sawhorse style sign and post it up the day before the street sweeper comes.  At least in my hood when people drive home from work they should see the sign if it’s posted on the corner. The signs on our street are small and hard to see and that’s why you usually forget about the sweeper coming the next day.

The plan is to build this sign with reflective paint and keep it under a nice $25 budget. More to come…
